8cupschopped apples, peeled and cored4-5 lbs. (about 7-8 apples)
1tbsp.lemon juice, fresh
1cinnamon stick
1tbsp.water
Instructions
Start by peeling, removing the cores, and chopping the apples into chunks.
Add the chopped apples to your slow cooker, followed by the lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of water, and the cinnamon stick. Stir to combine. Set the slow cooker to low and let it cook for about 3–4 hours. At the 3-hour mark, check the texture for desired consistency. After cooking, the apples should be soft enough to mash easily with a fork or potato masher.
Enjoy!
Notes
Storage
Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container, such as a mason jar, for up to two weeks.
Freezer: Yes, you can freeze applesauce! Keep it in a freezer-safe container for up to three months for optimal flavor, though beyond that, the taste may degrade.
Note:You need very little water. Just enough to prevent the apples from sticking initially as they cook down, the juices for the apples release slowly so you don't want to add too much as it will water down the flavor.
