This fresh Turmeric Latte is a warm golden milk made with fresh turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, milk, and honey. Ready in just 15 minutes, this soothing drink is naturally caffeine free and perfect for a relaxing evening ritual.
1½cupsmilk of choicechoose one that has some fat content
2peppercorns
1cinnamon stick
1teaspoonhoney
ground cinnamon for dusting
coconut oil or ghee if needed for fat content* see notes
Instructions
Finely chop the fresh turmeric and ginger.
Add milk*, chopped turmeric, ginger, cinnamon stick, and peppercorns to a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over low-medium heat.
Allow the golden milk to slowly simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and strain over a mug or cup. Discard the strained bits.
Add honey to the golden milk and adjust to desired sweetness.

Notes
While I love drinking this golden milk turmeric latte for the warming flavors, to also achieve the benefits of the turmeric make sure to use a milk that has a bit of fat content. If you don't, then consider adding a little coconut oil or ghee. Turmeric is fat-soluble and needs the fat to absorb in the body. Also, black pepper is needed to activate curcumin, the active compound in turmeric. To achieve all of the benefits of this delicious drink don't skip these ingredients!
