Homemade Carrot Dog Treats

These soft Carrot Dog Treats are made with simple, real ingredients like oat flour, peanut butter, applesauce, and finely shredded carrots. They come together quickly in one bowl or a food processor, and bake into a naturally sweet, nutritious treat your dog will love.

Ingredients
  

Carrot Dog Treats

  • 2 cups oat flour
  • 2 cups carrots, finely shredded
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter unsalted, no added sugar, and no xylitol
  • ½ cup applesauce, plain unsweetened
  • 1 large egg

Dog-friendly Frosting - optional

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt, plain
  • 1 tablespoon coconut flour

Instructions
 

Carrot Treats

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F
  • Food Processor method: Add all ingredients to a food processor and blend until combined and dough is formed.
  • Bowl method: Add egg, peanut butter, and applesauce to a large mixing bowl. Using a whisk or hand-held mixer, combine until creamy. 
  • Add oat flour and shredded carrots to the bowl and mix until dough is formed.
  • Using a cookie or ice cream scoop, portion the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Use your fingers to flatten to ½-inch thickness, and shape into circles or egg shapes.
  • Or roll dough on floured surface into ½-inch thickness and cut into shapes. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until set.
  • Transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely before adding icing.

Frosting - optional

  • In a small bowl, add yogurt and coconut flour. Mix with a spatula or hand-held mixer until smooth.
  • Add frosting to cool treats.

Notes

Storage
Refrigerator: Store unfrosted dog treats in an airtight container for up to 7 days. Frosted treats will last 3-5 days
Freezer: Store in freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
