Pressing tofu used to be daunting for me. However, after learning this method years ago it has made things so much easier! It’s easy and you don’t have to try and figure out what you are going to put on top of the tofu to press the moisture out. This How to Remove Moisture from Tofu method is seriously my only way to remove moisture now. It’s a no fail method. Simple a kitchen towel and a few paper towels and you’re good to go.
Steps of how to remove moisture from tofu:
Start with a regular sized clean kitchen towel. Fold it in thirds lengthwise. See picture to the left
Then fold 2 separate paper towels in thirds. If you have Quick-size paper towels then use 2 sets of 3 quick size towels. See picture to the left
*Note – To reduce waste – use 2 kitchen towels for the method and eliminate the paper towel.
Then place folded paper towels on each side of folded kitchen towel. See picture to the left.
Place sliced tofu along one side of the towel. (Can also be done whole block tofu)
Fold and let rest for 10-15 minutes. Then flip and let rest on that side for another 10-15 minutes.
Done! Your tofu is ready to use for whatever delicious dish you are looking to make!
