I’ve been making these Nut and Date Energy Balls for years. They were a staple when I was training for long-distance triathlons and needed something quick, nutritious, and easy to grab on the go. They are something I still keep on-hand for snacking.

This no bake energy ball recipe comes together quickly in a food processor and makes about 12 bite-sized balls. Each one has a warm cinnamon, nutty flavor that’s perfect when a craving hits.

These healthy energy balls are especially good alongside a mid-morning Cold Brew Coffee or in the afternoon with a cup of my Fresh Turmeric Latte.

What’s in these energy balls

See recipe card for full ingredient list and measurements.

  • Cinnamon: Adds that warm flavor while also helping support the body’s natural response to inflammation.
  • Nuts: Provide healthy fats and plant-based protein to help keep you full and energized.
  • Hemp seeds: A great source of plant-based protein, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and minerals like magnesium.
  • Medjool dates: Naturally sweet and packed with fiber, potassium, and essential minerals. They’re also a quick source of energy, which is exactly why these worked so well during long training days.

Instructions

A food processor works best for this recipe. You can use a high-powered blender, however you will need to stop frequently and scrap down the sides, speaking from experience!

  1. Add nuts to the food processor and blend until nuts are chopped and begin to release their oils.
  2. Add medjool dates and blend until chopped and combined.
  3. Add cinnamon, salt, vanilla extract, and hemp seeds. Blend until combined and it’s a dough-like texture that you can form a ball with. Taste and adjust cinnamon or vanilla extract to your liking.
  4. Form into bite-sized with your hands and enjoy this super easy snack!

Storage

Refrigerator: store these energy balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Freezer: These energy balls freeze very well! Store in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.

If you like having snacks ready for the week, this pairs well with my Fruit and Nut Granola and Kale Chips for easy grab-and-go options.
