Beer Batter Fried Zucchini Flowers
Zucchini Flowers are one of my favorite delicacies from the garden. They are perfect in this Beer Batter Fried Zucchini Flowers recipe! They are also great stuffed, baked, or added into a dish. I’ve even thrown some into a quiche and on a salad.
When harvesting you do have to be mindful when picking. The long stemmed flowers are the male flowers, they are best, but they are needed for pollination of the female flowers on the young zucchini that is beginning to grow. If you pick too many, you risk the plant not producing. But with balance, those flowers are perfect!
This recipe is quick and simple. The beer adds air to the batter which is best for the delicate petals. When prepping make sure to remove the inside stem, aka the pollinator, as it is bitter. It’s easy to remove, just pinch it with your fingers.
Some say you don’t need to rinse your flowers, however, I do. I place then in a bowl of cold water for just a minute or so, gently swirling to remove any dirt or insects that might be trapped in the center. Then I lay flat on a towel to dry.

It’s usually best to pick the flowers in the morning before they begin to close.
