Itโ€™s pumpkin and apple season here in New Hampshire and while we enjoy these flavors our pups enjoy them too! These Pumpkin and Apple Dog Treats combine fresh apple and pumpkin puree into a soft, wholesome cookie thatโ€™s perfect for any size dog. They come together in about 30 minutes and yield 24 soft pumpkin dog treats that your dog will love! Theyโ€™re Magnus (our Great Dane) and all his neighborhood buddies approved!

Iโ€™ve made this dog cookie recipe so many times using various forms of fresh apple: chopped, applesauce and grated apples. By far the best texture and result has been with using the grated apple, they come out perfect every time. And these dog treats contain no peanut butter which is perfect for those dogs with a peanut allergy.

Pumpkin puree: freshly cooked or canned. If using canned, ensure it is pure pumpkin as pie-filling has added ingredients that may not be suitable for dogs. Here is a guide of How to Roast a Pumpkin so that you can use fresh pumpkin for this recipe if you’d like. Pumpkin benefits: pumpkins are rich in fiber and beta-carotene, and are good for a dog’s digestion and gut health.

Apple: peeled, cored and seeds removed. Then grated using a box or cheese grater. Apples are rich in vitamins and a natural sweetness.
